Danish belongs to the Germanic languages, and is part of the Scandinavian languages in that language group. Approximately 6 million people speak Danish worldwide, 5.5 million of which live in Denmark. The rest mainly lives in the autonomous territories of Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and just across the German border in Schleswig and Schleswig-Holstein. In Greenland and Germany, Danish is an official language for minorities.
Due to the island structure, with its isolated village communities, Denmark has developed dialects in the past that differ greatly. Danes who speak dialects on one side of the country are often hard or impossible to understand on the other side of the country. On the other hand, speakers of official Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish can understand each other fairly well. These languages have many similarities and are developing ‘in tandem’. This means that any new elements in one language is almost always quickly adopted by the other two. The dialects that border neighbouring countries seamlessly cross over into each other (a so-called dialect continuum).
Words like blomkål, rijsttafel, matros, jagt, fokkemast, schoutbynacht, and borgmester show that Danish has also adopted Dutch words.
For translations into Danish, we use native speakers who live and work in the Netherlands. These in-country translators have mastered their language and have the best feel for their local culture. After all, translation also involves a cultural component, because if the target group is not addressed correctly, the translation will miss the mark entirely.
We can say that we are a very good translation agency, but it is better to let others do the talking. On this independent website, our clients have published reviews about us. In addition, we have subjected ourselves to strict approvals, which resulted in obtaining ISO 9001 and ISO 17100. These are the highest achievable European quality standards for translation agencies. But we don’t stop there; we also offer you a lowest price guarantee and a 100% satisfaction guarantee. How can we be both good and inexpensive at the same time? You can find out here.
You can always request a free quote. You will receive a customised quote for your Danish translation within 15 minutes.
