Catalan is spoken by approximately 11.5 million people in Catalonia, east of Aragón, in and around Valencia, and in part of Murcia and the Balearic Islands. It is also spoken in the mountain region of Andorra, in and around the Southern French Roussillon, and in Alghero on the Italian island of Sardinia.
Catalan has been banned several times in history. The first time was in 1714, when the upcoming Bourbon dynasty wanted to get rid of Catalan. In 1939, Franco completely banned Catalan, which had just been officially recognized. Even in the area annexed by France around Roussillon, Catalan was removed from public life after the French Revolution. In France, Catalan is not an official language; in Spain, it is. In fact, if you want to work for the Catalan government, you have to speak Catalan, and it is used in both primary and secondary education, with Castilian (Spanish) as a second language.
For translations into Catalan, we use translators who live and work in Catalonia, so-called in-country translators. Those translators need to meet the strict requirements associated with an ISO 9001 and ISO 17100 certified translation agency such as ours. These standards are the highest achievable European quality standards for translation agencies. This means you are assured of an optimal result in all respects. In addition, you can always rely on our lowest price guarantee and our 100% satisfaction guarantee. But perhaps it is better to hear it from our clients on this independent website.
As mentioned above, we don’t work with a fixed group of translators in an office in the Netherlands, but with specialised translators who live and work all over the world. This means we are constantly looking for more translators, which means we work with a large and growing number of translators; on our homepage, you can find out just how many translators this is. In addition, all translators we work with have signed a confidentiality statement, so you know that your texts are handled discreetly.
Of course, the big question is, what is my Catalan translation going to cost? If you click the link below and request a free quote, you will have the answer within 15 minutes.
