Bulgarian is an Indo-European language that belongs to the group of southern Slavic languages. Approximately 12 million people speak Bulgarian, 8 million of which as their native language. Outside Bulgaria, Bulgarian is also spoken in Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Romania, Moldova, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine. Out of all Slavic languages, Bulgarian is most related to Macedonian, Slovenian, Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian. Very distant relatives include Latin, Greek, Irish, Persian, Hindi, Armenian, Lithuanian, Albanian, and… Dutch.
Bulgarian is written in the Cyrillic alphabet. This alphabet was designed by the brothers Cyrillus and Methodius, two monks from Thessaloniki (Greece). The brothers wanted to translate the Bible into Church Slavonic in an effort to convert the Slavic people to Christianity. The first alphabet they developed was the Glagolitic alphabet, which as adopted in Bulgaria in the year 886. This formed the basis for the development of the Cyrillic alphabet. The Bible translation initiated by Cyrillus and Methodius set the Christianisation of the entire Slavic world in motion with Bulgaria as a starting point, which is why the brothers are placed on the same pedestal as the original apostles.
We never simply hand over a translation to any translator. Translation alone is not enough – the translator also needs to have extensive knowledge of the culture of their language, or the translation will never be optimal. This is why we work with in-country translators, in this case, Bulgarian translators who live and work in Bulgaria. These translators have an optimal feel for their own language and culture, and know how to appeal to the target group like no other. Working with in-country translators means we work with translators with different specialisations for each country.
To provide you with the best possible guarantees regarding the quality of your translations, we combine the efforts of our in-country translators with our guaranteed top quality (see our ISO 9001 and ISO 17100 certificates), our lowest price guarantee, and our 100% satisfaction guarantee. On this page, you can read how it is possible that we are both good and inexpensive. And you can read what our customers have to say about that on this independent website.
If you are curious about the cost of your Bulgarian translation, please fill out our quotation form. You will receive a customised quote within 30 minutes.
The standards we were referring to, ISO 9001 and ISO 17100, are the highest achievable European quality standards for translation agencies. To qualify for these, we, and the translators we work with need to continuously meet strict requirements. For you as a client, this translates into optimal assurance.
