The work of a simultaneous interpreter starts with the so-called whisper interpreter; a private interpreter who sits next to a person for whom he needs to interpret. Such a simultaneous interpreter often works approximately one and a half to two hours straight before passing it over to a colleague who speaks the same language combination. Therefore, simultaneous interpreters rarely work alone.
